A few weeks ago a friend with Campus Crusade's Military Ministry (which I used to work with) sent me this article. I finally got around to reading it yesterday and about fell out of my chair. It just goes to show that there is more of a battle that our soldiers face than in Iraq. They are faced with so many conflicting views. Will they hear the TRUTH or will they be given a religious buffet? I'd like to hear your thoughts on this article from the Washington Post.

Twenty-Eight and not holding

Well, it's been a fun weekend to say the least....

On Friday I turned 28! I love my birthday and I love other people's birthday's, too! My dad called early in the morning, I barely had rolled out of bed and Matt was in the shower... early. The day progressed with fun messages from people here on the site, Facebook, phone calls, and cards in the mail from a variety of fun people.

I was showered with some fun gifts from family in the form of a couple of gifts cards to J.Jill, a fun Kermit The Frog book, and a fun little cake from my neighbor.

In the evening, Matt took me to dinner at the Charthouse in Scottsdale. It was very lovely. There we had the wonderful salad, crab cakes, and delighted in the mud pie. There Matt gave me some very lovely gifts. I had been thinking about a new bible and Matt picked up on that and purchased the Reformation Study Bible with my new married name printed on the front. Along with this practical gift came a lovely string of pearls. Ahhhh pearls... can make a fancy outfit complete and can make a casual outfit a little more dressy.

Saturday, we had lunch at Waffle House...a birthday wouldn't be complete without it!

We also planted our new little plants on Saturday... I think they like their new homes.

I had a great birthday... and cards are still coming in... so, I guess the party has been extended!

My birthdays tend to leave quite an impression (especially the last couple of years) but each one has been quite distinct and I love that they create a lasting memory for me.

More soon....

Hello, Stranger!

It's funny how life happens and things can be a blurr and smaller things can take a back seat to what we perceive to be "bigger" things.

I would say that would be the case with this here little site. It has been almost a month since I have posted anything. I have some ideas in my head of musing that I would like to toss around but I am still developing those thoughts. I will tell you that I have been pondering much over the meanings of celebration vs. worship (it was quite a crazy way in which my brain was launched into this thought process) and the the other pondering (which has been going on for some time) is the lack of reverence in worship that I see in many churches today... churches that I used to be a part of or visited. Even things that I hear about as people talk about or in the language they use to invite people to their particular church. When you think about it... well, it will drive you crazy... so, look for these things in coming postings!

Matt and I are STILL working on our crazy red wall/kitchen and we hope to have it done this weekend. That would be a wonderful thing. We have some busy and fun times coming up in the following weeks. We head to Austin, TX on the 29th because I am in my friend's, Amanda, wedding. Then when we get back my dear friend Karen will be here for a few days, then Easter, and then we leave for Ireland on April 11. Whew!

In the meantime... I will continue to love my Lord, love my husband, and continue in the area that God has called me to keep our home and make it lovely for the glory of God. It's such a new and refreshing perspective for me.

Until next time...
